Essential Aftercare for Your Hedgeforce Instant Hedge

Your Hedgeforce instant hedge has been carefully grown, shaped, and delivered to give you immediate privacy and structure. To keep it healthy and thriving, just follow these simple maintenance steps.

Installation Guide

💧 Watering

  • Water 2–3 times per week, depending on weather.
  • Ensure water reaches the root, not just the surface.
  • Avoid overwatering — soil should be moist, not waterlogged.
  • During dry spells (especially in summer), water once weekly.
  • Early morning or late evening watering is best.
  • 💡 Tip: Use a soaker hose or drip irrigation system to make watering easier and more efficient.

🌿 Feeding

Apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser in early spring, avoid feeding late in autumn, as this can encourage soft growth before winter.

🌱 The Best Guide to Planting a Mature Hedge

Planting a mature hedge offers instant privacy, structure, and beauty — but proper planting is key to long-term success. Follow this simple guide to ensure your Hedgeforce instant hedge thrives from day one.

  • Prepare the ground by diggging a trench twice as wide as the root equal to its depth and loosen soil adding in a compost
  • Position the plants, by keeping tops are level, space is tight to avoid gaps and the face of the hedge is in line.
  • Plant and backfill by placing each hedge section into the trench. Backfill with excavated soil mixed with compost, firming gently as you go
  • Water thoroughly 2–3 times per week (or more in hot/dry weather), adjust for weather conditions.
  • Mulch the base to retain moisture, suppress weeds and help from extreme heat or cold
  • You can lightly shape the hedge after planting if needed.

🛡️ Pest & Disease Monitoring

Most hedging is robust, but keep an eye out for a few things to get it off to the best start.

  • Yellowing or curling leaves.
  • Wilting or brown leaves can cause worry, as can a greyish-white coating to the foliage which usually indicates a problem with powdery mildew.
  • Unusual insect activity.
  • If spotted early, most issues can be treated with an organic pesticide or simple cultural control. Contact us if you’re unsure — we’re always happy to help.
